National Voters’ Day 2020

India celebrates the day 25th Jan every year as National Voters’ Day is to make the youth aware of voting.

So this year 10th National Voters’ Day 2020 (NVD2020) was celebrated across the country with the theme “Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy”. Being a part of this awareness programme, the different activities were carried out by CEO, Odisha in Bhubaneswar

Voters Carnival was flagged off from Master Canteen Bhubaneswar at 7:30 am in the morning and culminated at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar.

The awareness rally was headed by Sushil Kumar Lohani, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha & Sitansu Kumar Rout, Collector & Dist. Magistrate, Khordha . Students, Professionals wearing “NVD2020” t-shirts & Caps from various educational institutions, NSS, NCC, Bharat Scouts, Guides, Govt Organization, etc  were participated in the awareness rally followed by a promotional van along with performing folk troupe . A group of trans genders & differently-abled kids were also joined the campaign. The carnival was carried out by participants with slogans along with promotional banners, Sign boards in the hand. Apart from that a cycle rally was also conducted.

The solitary objective of the campaign was to create and spread awareness to the public.

NVD 2020 CELEBRATION by CEO, ODISHA AT RABINDRA MANDAP

A State level programme was organized by Chief Election Office (CEO), Odisha at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar on 25th January 2020.  The Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Shri Ganeshi Lal, graced the function as Chief  Guest also inaugurated the Voters sensitization photo gallery, Around 2000 participants attended the function including students from various educational institutions, women, senior citizens and scores of public servants.

The welcome address was delivered by Sushil Kumar Lohani, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha followed by administration of voters pledge by Hon’ble Governor of the State.

The newly enrolled voters including transgender, differently-abled, women and students were handed over with Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) by the Hon’ble Governor and with the badge “Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy”.

To induce the enthusiasm among the youth about the voting, several State level competitions- Debate, Quiz, Essay, Poster making were conducted among different Schools & colleges in Bhubaneswar. The winners of the said competition were awarded with a certificate & trophy by the Hon’ble Governor.
