National Blood Donation Day 2018 with the theme “Happiness is Donating Blood“, was observed by State Blood Transfussion Society, Odisha (SBTC) from 29th September to 1st October 2018. As the part of the programme, a Blood Donation Camp (Organized by capital Hospital Blood Bank) in Cordination with Capital Hospital Blood Bank , A Candle Light Rally on 30th September, A mass Rally and state level conclave on 1st October 2018 at Jaydev Bhawan.

About National Blood Donation Day .
Every year 1st October is celebrated as the “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day” . With an objective to create awareness among community to the prevailing need of blood . National days sensitize the population and by increasing regular voluntary non-remunerated blood donation help to meet the safe blood requirements in the country.
National Voluntary Blood Donation Day
Observation of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day in our country started on 1st Oct’ 1975, under the initiative of Indian Society of Blood Transfusion. the 1st October of each year is being observed throughout the country as the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day with different themes. This year we are observing the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day with the theme “Happiness is Donating Blood”.

Organization of Blood Donation Camp.
A Voluntary Blood Donation Camp was organized by Capital Hospital Blood Bank Bhubaneswar in coordination with State Blood Transfusion Council, Odisha on 29th Sept’ 2018 in the iconic Blood Collection Bus in front of office of the NHM Odisha. The camp was inaugurated by Ms. Shalini Pandit, IAS, Mission Director, NHM Odisha in presence of other dignitaries. Many of the neighbouring offices also participated in the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp camps wholeheartedly. Total blood collection in that camp was 100 units.
Candle-light Rally
The candle light was held on 30th Sept’ 2018 at Master Canteen Square, Bhubaneswar and participated by more than 300 volunteers along with Shri Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, Hon’ble MLA Bhubaneswar (Madhya), Shri Ananta Narayan Jena, Hon’ble Mayor Bhubaneswar, Shri Priyadarshi Mishra Hon’ble MLA, Bhubaneswar (Uttara) and Dr. Braja Kishore Brahma, Special Secretary (MS) to Govt., H & FW Deptt.
Mass Rally at Ekamra Haat, Bhubaneswar
A Mass Rally from Ekamra Hatt to Jaydev Bhavan, participated by more than 700 volunteers, organized on 1st Oct’ 2018. Flagged off by Shri. Ananta Narayan Jena, Mayor – BMC, Shri. Priyadarshi Mishra, MLA – Bhubaneswsar North (Uttar), and Dr. Deepak Kumar Dasmohapatra, Director, SBTC and other dignitaries. create public awareness for Voluntary Blood Donation programme in the State.
State level Conclave at Jaydev Bhavan
A state Level conclave was organized at Jaydev bhawan, with the active participation of dignitaries including eminent personalities , OSACS officials, organizations associated with Blood donation campaigns and media persons.
