NATIONAL VOTERS DAY 2019- Event by Shadow Advertising

Year 2019, being the election year, the commission have directed to celebrate NVD (National Voters’ Day) across the country with the theme “No voters to be Left Behind” and also with the slogan “Proud to be a Voter. Ready to Vote.”

As the part of the initiative, the following activities were carried out.

  1. Voters Carnival & Information Leaflet Distribution
  2. Cycle Rally
  3. Flash Mob
  4. State level National Voters’ Day Celebration
  5. Human Chain Formation
  6. Installation of Hoarding and Pole Kiosks across the city
  7. Republic Day tableau Van.

Voters Carnival was flagged off from three places of Bhubaneswar at 7 am in the morning and culminated at Kalinga stadium.

Each team were assigned with respective routes, and consisted of three vehicles, a tableau van displaying EVM, CU & VVPAT model,  followed by a van with performing folk troupe on board and a support van.

The solitary objective of the campaign was to create and spread awareness to the public about the adoption and utilization of VVPAT and EVM Machine.

Information posters and leaflets were distributed near traffic places, market squares and residential locations for a modest public awareness. The Tableau Van has also covered several locations during afternoon and evening hours  of the same day.

Cycle Rally

A Cycle Rally was flagged off by Paralympic Sprinter Jayanti Behera and the officials from Chief election commission of Odisha from forest park. The participants included the students from NSS, NCC and Bharat Scouts and Guides. The rally covered several conspicuous locations that included, Sishu Bhavan Square, Rajmahal Square, Master Canteen Square, Ram Mandir Square, Rupali Square, Nicco Park.

Flash Mob Activity

A group of eleven male and female artist performed flash dance at various locations mob activity like Big Bazar (Patia), Xavier School of Management, KIIT College, Forum Mart, and Master Canteen Bus Stand for the purpose of spreading voters’ day awareness message.


A State level programme was organized by Chief Election Office (CEO), Odisha at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar on 25th January 2019.  The Hon’ble Governor of Odisha, Shri Ganeshi Lal, graced the function as Chief  Guest also inaugurated the Voters sensitization photo gallery, also visited the model polling booth with Control Unit , EVM and VVPAT.

Around 2000 participants attended the function including students from various educational institutions, women, senior citizens and scores of public servants.

The welcome address was delivered by Sri Sachin R. Jadhav, Addl. Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha followed by administration of voters pledge by Hon’ble Governor of the State. The NVD Poster and SVEEP (Systematic voters education and electoral participation) plan 2019 was unveiled by the Chief Guest.  

The newly enrolled voters including transgender, differently abled, women and students were handed over with Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) by the Hon’ble Governor and with the badge “Proud to be a Voter. Ready to Vote.”

To induce the enthusiasm among the youth about the voting, several State level competitions- debate, quiz, slogan writing, painting were conducted at Utkal University premises on 15 th Jan 2019. The winners of the said competition were awarded with a certificate & trophy by the Hon’ble Governor.

In his deliberation while addressing the audience, The Hon’ble governor preached on the crucial role of voters towards formation of the nation, and urged everyone to participate in the electoral process by remaining pristine while nominating the representatives.

Human Chain Formation of National Flag, EVM, VVPAT Machine

Students from the following Schools and Colleges performed the human chain formation to display the mesmerizing view of Indian National Flag, ECI symbol, ink marked hand and EVM.

  1. Tapovan High School.
  2. Rama Devi Womens College.
  3. Unit 2 Girls High School.
  4. Capital High School

The Session was concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Abhaya Naik, Addl. CEO and National Anthem.

Tableau Van Display at Republic Day Parade

On the Eve of 70th Republic Day state level parade, The Hon’ble Governor , Shri Ganeshi Lal took salute as Chief Gues. On this occasion, The Tableau van with, EVM, VVPAT and CU Models was displayed

  • Deployment of professionals to conduct rehearsal sessions for implementing the splendid view human chain formation prior to the event day.
